Conference Themes

The second conference of the Society for Ecological Restoration Australasia (SERA) will be held in Noumea, New Caledonia, 17-21 november 2014. For land managers, scientists and practitioners who work in biodiversity restoration, this SERA meeting will provide a critical international forum at a time of significance for the region's species, ecosystems and landscapes.

Session Themes
With a focus on "From Large to small islands", the conference organising committee hope to engage the debate on how the restoration processes develop in large islands even if some are also develop in small islands can help to increase our restoration capabilities in Australasia region. With this focus, SER Australasia aims to accommodate as many interests as possible. The meeting will host an array of themes representing current research and global restoration practice concepts. Themes that are relevant, of high focus and contemporary in Australasia will be part of the SER Australasia 2014 conference program.

  • Mine restoration
  • Humid zones and coastal restoration
  • Marine restoration
  • Islands and invasive alien species
  • Ecosystem services and ecological, economic and socio-cultural value of restoration
  • Guidelines for restoration success
