Conference Field Trips
One-day and two-day field trips are currently
being planned highlighting Waikato and New Zealand's biodiversity
conservation locations including:
- Sanctuary Mountain: Maungatautari Ecological
Island, a 3400 reserve surrounded by 47 kilometres of predator-proof
fencing is possibly the only place on mainland New Zealand where
a glimpse of our former native biodiversity can be experienced,
including rare and incredible birds, reptiles and plants.
- Tongariro National Park: Tongariro is New Zealand's
oldest national park and a dual World Heritage area. This status
recognises the park's important Maori cultural and spiritual associations
as well as its outstanding volcanic features. This area is a different
ecological world with cutting edge conservation and restoration
underway.)
- Waitomo Caves: An amazing limestone landscape
that is home to a range of natural underground wonders. These
caves provide unique habitat for some special flora and fauna
and promise an exciting experience for all.
- and more are being planned...
